A record number of interns started June 11! The interns will be working for 10 weeks at Calista Corporation headquarters and with a number of Calista subsidiaries. All interns are Calista Shareholder Descendants.
Not pictured are several interns studying engineering that will be flown to Hunstville, Alabama. They have the rare opportunity to gain valuable aeronautical experience with a Calista subsidiary, Yulista Aviation. This type of experience is not easily available in Alaska .
It is important the youth of our Region have a fair and exceptional chance at getting a great education so that they are successful and fulfilled in whatever career they choose. Every year since 2006, Calista has awarded more than $200,000 in scholarships and more than six internships annually. For the longevity and success of our Region, it is important we invest in our youth. They are our future medical practitioners, teachers and leaders.
Many Calista scholarship and internship recipients have gone on to make a significant impression on our communities, the Region and the state. We commend them for all they have done and continue to do; they are an inspiration to many.
