Johnnie Evan and George Guy give the oath of office following their reelection to the Calista Board of Directors on June 3, 2022.

Nine communities in the Yukon-Kuskokwim Region reached a 70 percent or higher voting rate. More than 7 in 10 Shareholders voted online this year, including more than 5 in 10 voting Elders. Additionally, more than 2,200 Shareholders opted to receive materials electronically. This reduced the amount of paper used by over 1,300 pounds.

All votes are received and validated by the Inspector of Elections, Sramek-Hightower, a certified public accounting firm in Anchorage. The Inspector has certified the 2022 voting results. The Inspector also conducted the random drawings of winners for each round of proxy prizes. Twenty-four Shareholders won $52,000 in proxy prizes.

This year’s meeting was held in person in Tuluksak, following approval by the local Tribe. In the previous two years, the meeting had been conducted virtually due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

“Calista thanks every Shareholder who voted and helped others to vote,” said Thom Aparuk Leonard, Calista Corp. Vice President of Corporate Affairs. “Only when a majority of shares are voted can an Annual Meeting be valid, candidates elected, and proxy prizes dispersed.”

Annual Meeting information is posted at www.CalistaCorp.com/AnnualMeeting.
