Calista Golf Classic Raises $222,000 For Scholarships
250 Students Received Aid In Spring 2012
(Anchorage, Alaska) – Calista Heritage Foundation, a non-profit Calista Corporation subsidiary, announced today they raised $222,380 at the 13th Annual Calista Golf Classic held on June 20. Since 2006, more than $1.6 million in scholarships have been awarded. Recipients are Calista Corporation Shareholders or Descendants.
Year-to-date, 250 students have received $221,750 in scholarships. A total of 130 of the students call the Calista region home. 100 more are from other areas in Alaska, and 20 of the students live out of state. These students attend a variety of educational centers, from the Yuut Yaqungviat flight school in Bethel, to University of Alaska campuses, and college campuses around the nation.
“The support of Calista, the sponsors and the community is crucial to the future success of our educational programs,” said CHF President Debra Call. “The students we assist today will guide and manage Alaskan companies in the future. It’s wonderful to note that Calista Corporation President/CEO Andrew Guy is a past scholarship recipient and former intern.”
