What Happens After Applying?

Received Applications

Upon receipt of a completed, signed and dated enrollment application (with all supporting documents or verification information), the application will be uploaded to the enrollment database. Once uploaded, an email notice will be delivered to the applicant or their legal representative if an email has been provided. This notice acknowledges receipt of the application and informing the applicant of any missing documents or verification information.

Missing Information

If missing information is not received, reminder notices will be sent periodically. Applicants will be advised that their application will be verified once all supporting documents are received.

Incomplete applications submitted without the necessary information or supporting documentation that proves eligibility will be declined after ninety (90) calendar days.

Verified Applications

Enrollment staff will begin verification only after all required supporting documents are received. Calista will strive to verify complete applications within sixty (60) business days. Once verified, applicants will receive a notice by email if an email address has been provided.

Receipt of an application is not a guarantee of eligibility for issuance of Class C or Class D shares.

Once verified, application information will be forwarded to the Calista Shareholder Records Team for processing.

When Do I Become A Shareholder

It is anticipated that the Calista Board of Directors will consider and vote on a resolution to accept new Shareholders in October 2017 during a regularly scheduled Board meeting. If that resolution passes, stock issuance will occur in December 2017. Once stock is issued, new Shareholders will then be eligible for voting, dividends, Board candidacy and more.

When Will Class C and Class D Shares be Eligible for a Calista Dividend?

It is anticipated that the Calista Board of Directors will consider and vote on a resolution to accept new Shareholders in October 2017 during a regularly scheduled Board meeting. If that resolution passes, stock issuance will occur in December 2017. Once stock is issued, Class C and Class D shares would be eligible for the next declared dividend.

Historically, the Board has declared two different types of dividends plus the Elders’ Benefit Program, as noted on our FAQs page.

  • Spring dividends are based on Shareholders’ Equity for the prior three years. These dividends are generally distributed in April or May.
  • Fall dividends come from the Akilista marketable securities portfolio, which saw its first distribution in 2014. This is an investment account created to provide an additional distribution funding source of dividends not reliant on business operations. These dividends are generally distributed in November.
  • Elders’ Benefit Program distributions are for original Shareholders. An Elder is someone 65 years of age or older. These distributions are generally sent out in late December. More than 60 percent of voting Shareholders approved this program through an advisory resolution during the 2007 Annual Meeting of Shareholders in Chevak, Alaska.
