The 2024 General Election is around the corner! Calista Corporation and the Yukon-Kuskokwim Regional Tribal Government are holding the Why Voting Is Important Contest to encourage Calista Shareholders and Tribal Citizens of the 56 Tribes of the Yukon-Kuskokwim Region to share a photo or video post on Facebook about why voting is important to our communities. Read the instructions below on how to enter the contest!
There will be two random drawings, with multiple opportunities to win. Enter today for your chance to win a $1,000, $2,500, $5,000, or $7,000 door prize!

Contest Rules
To provide fair and equal chance of winning to all Calista Corporation (“Calista”) Shareholders and Tribal Citizens of the 56 Tribes of the Yukon-Kuskokwim Region, the following are the official rules for the 2024 Why Voting Is Important Contest (“Contest”).
ELIGIBILITY: The Contest is open to all current Calista Shareholders and Tribal Citizens of the 56 Tribes of the Yukon-Kuskokwim Region who are 18 years of age or older at the time of entry. Void outside the United States and where prohibited by law. The Contest is subject to all applicable federal, state, and local laws.
PRIZES: There will be two prize phases (Phase I and Phase II). Phase I: Present-October 26, Phase II: October 26-November 5. Each Phase will have prizes of $1,000, $2,500, $5,000, and $7,000.
a. A winner may only win one prize.
b. The winners must accept the prize awarded or decline the prize. If the selected winner declines the prize, another winner will be drawn.
c. Prizes will be distributed to the winners via mailed check.
d. There is no substitution, transfer, or cash equivalent for prizes.
e. The prizes are expressly limited to the item(s) listed above and do not include taxes, gratuities or any other expenses. Other restrictions may apply.
f. Entrants are required to provide complete, accurate and truthful information. Calista will reject and delete any duplicate entries received from the same participant, and any entry it discovers to be false or fraudulent. Calista will disqualify any entry from any individual who does not meet the eligibility requirements and reject any entry prohibited by law.
g. Prizes will not be disbursed to a winner without the winner’s completed W-9 IRS tax form, and written consent in which the winner shall agree to assume its risk of loss. Calista is not responsible for the safe arrival of a prize.

Entries received October 11 to October 26 are eligible only for Phase I. You will need to submit another entry between October 27 to November 5 to be entered for Phase II.WINNER SELECTION:
- Phase I winner will be selected by October 29, 2024, following a random drawing.
- Phase II winner will be selected by November 15, 2024, following a random drawing.
TERMS AND CONDITIONS:
a. Payments of all federal, state and local taxes are solely the responsibility of each winner. Winners will be required to complete and submit an IRS Form W-9 or the equivalent including the winner’s full Social Security Number for receipt of any prize valued at $600 or more or for any prizes awarded by Calista in a calendar year with an aggregate value of $600 or more. Failure to submit a complete W-9 or equivalent will result in disqualification and forfeiture of the prize.b. Participating in the Contest and acceptance of a prize constitutes a winner’s permission for Calista or its agents to photograph, film and record each winner, and to use his/her name, address (city and state), likeness, photograph, voice, biographical information and/or any statements made by him/her regarding the Contest for purposes of trade, publicity or promotion without additional financial or other compensation, and, Calista may, where legal, require a winner to sign a publicity release confirming such consent prior to acceptance of the prize.
c. Prior to awarding any prize or prize certificate, and depending on the nature of the prize and eligibility requirements of the Contest, Calista in its sole discretion may require verification of a Contest winner’s identification by a showing of valid government-issued photo identification.
d. This Contest and the prizes are offered solely by Calista. To the fullest extent permitted by law, by participating and/or accepting a prize, entrants and winners agree to release and hold harmless Calista, and its affiliates, advertising and promotion agencies, any social media platform utilized in the conduct of the Contest (including but not limited to Facebook, Inc. and Apple Inc.) and each of their respective parent, subsidiary and affiliated entities, and the officers, shareholders, directors, employees, agents, representatives, successors, and assigns of each of them (collectively, the “Released Parties”) from and against any and all claims, losses or liability, including but not limited to personal injury, property damage and death, arising directly or indirectly, in whole or in part, from the prize or participation in the Contest, or the acceptance, possession, use or misuse of any awarded prize (or portion thereof); and the use of his/her name, address (city and state), voice, performance, photograph, image and/or other likeness for programming, advertising, publicity, trade and promotional purposes in any and all media, now or hereafter known, worldwide and on the Internet, and in perpetuity by Calista and its designees, without compensation (unless prohibited by law) or additional consents from entrant or any third party and without prior notice, approval or inspection, and to execute specific consent to such use if asked to do so. Calista may also require eligible Contest winners, if any (as well as each of their parent(s) or legal guardian(s), if winners are under the age of majority in their state of residence), to sign a liability release confirming such consent.
e. Calista, in its sole discretion, reserves the right to disqualify any person (and applicable entry) from this Contest if he or she tampers with the entry process, the operation of the Contest, or the operation of Calista’s websites, Facebook Page, and/or any other social networking site used in the Contest, or is otherwise in violation of the Official Rules. Calista further reserves the right, at its sole discretion, to modify, cancel, terminate or suspend the Contest, or any part of it, without penalty, if it is not capable of completion as planned or if any fraud, technical failures or any factor beyond Calista’s control, including but not limited to infection by computer virus, bugs, tampering, unauthorized intervention or technical failures of any sort, corrupt or affect the administration, security, fairness, integrity or proper conduct of the Contest as determined by Calista in is sole
discretion. Any attempt by an entrant or any person to deliberately damage any website, Facebook Page, and/or any other social networking site used in the Contest or to undermine the legitimate operation of this Contest may be a violation of criminal and civil laws. Should such an attempt be made, Calista reserves the right to seek full prosecution and/or damages from any such individual to the fullest extent permitted by law. Calista’s failure to enforce any term of these Official Rules shall not constitute a waiver of any term or condition of the Contest or Official Rules.f. The Released Parties are not responsible for (i) typographical or other errors in the printing, the offering or the administration of the Contest, or in the announcement of a prize; (ii) entries not received due to difficulty accessing the internet, service outage or delays, computer difficulties, malfunctions, disconnections, other technological failures, telephone service outages, delays, dropped calls, or busy signals, or any other difficulties that may prevent an individual from sending or receiving a text message; or (iii) lost, stolen, mangled, misdirected, postage due, illegible, incomplete, incorrect, or late entries. Further, the Released Parties are not responsible if any part of a Contest prize that cannot be awarded due to acts of god, acts of war, natural disasters, weather, acts of terrorism or other factors beyond Calista’s control.
g. To the fullest extent permitted by law, by participating in the Contest, you understand and agree that:
i. if the parties are unable to resolve any dispute amicably, it shall be resolved by means of binding arbitration (not in a court of law) under the rules of the American Arbitration Association, and the Federal Arbitration Act shall govern the interpretation, enforcement and all proceedings at such arbitration;
ii. any and all disputes, claims, and causes of action arising out of or in connection with this Contest, or any prizes awarded, shall be resolved individually, without resort to any form of class action (even if the rules and procedures of the arbitration tribunal allow class arbitrations);
iii. any and all claims, judgments, and awards shall be limited to actual out-of-pocket costs incurred, including costs associated with entering this Contest, but in no event and under no circumstances will entrants or winners be permitted to obtain awards for attorneys’ fees, and you hereby waive all rights to claim punitive, incidental, or consequential damages, or any other form of damages, other than actual out-of-pocket expenses, and any and all rights to have damages multiplied or otherwise increased;
iv. any claim or dispute regarding the Contest or these Official Rules will be resolved pursuant to the laws of the State of Alaska, without regard to its conflicts of laws principles;
v. venue for any claim or dispute regarding the Contest or these Official Rules shall be in Anchorage, Alaska and each participant agrees to submit to such venue and waive all objections to the venue; and
vi. if for any reason a claim or dispute regarding the Contest or these Official Rules proceeds in court rather than through arbitration, each participant waives the right to a jury trial.h. The invalidity or unenforceability of any provision of these Official Rules, including but not limited to the agreement to arbitrate, shall not affect the validity or enforceability of any other provision. If any such provision is determined to be invalid or otherwise unenforceable, these rules shall be construed in accordance with their terms as if the invalid or unenforceable provision was not contained herein.
i. To obtain a copy of the Official Rules or a list of winners following completion of the Contest, send a self-addressed, stamped envelope specifying “Why Voting Is Important Winners List” to Calista Corporation, 5015 Business Park Blvd., Suite 3000, Anchorage, AK 99503. A copy of the Official Rules and a list of winners (when complete) are also available during regular business hours at either the Bethel or Anchorage office. All such requests must be received within thirty (30) days following completion of the Contest.
