Calista Corporation Announces 2017 Annual Meeting Results
43rd Meeting Held in Sleetmute on July 7
(Anchorage, Alaska) – Calista Corporation shareholders reelected four directors to continue serving on the Board of Directors. Additionally, the one resolution up for vote failed to pass. A total of 57.4 percent of all outstanding shares voted. These results are certified by the Inspector of Elections, Sramek-Hightower. Nearly 24 percent of votes were cast online at calistavote.com.
Four board seats were up for election this year. Margaret Pohjola, Willie Kasayulie, Earl Samuelson, Sr., and Leslie Hunter, Sr. were all voted back into office for Administrative Units 7, 8, 9 and 10, respectively. Each elected Director serves a three-year term.
Calista Shareholder votes solely decide Board elections. In 2013, both the Board slate and discretionary voting of non-directed votes were eliminated. Non-directed votes are now spread evenly across all candidates for office.
The resolution to change the quorum requirement from a majority to one-third of outstanding shares did not pass. Yes votes for the quorum reduction resolution totaled over 61 percent. However, at least 66.67 percent of votes cast were required for this resolution to pass.
The Board will hold a regularly scheduled meeting in late July. Board officers will be elected at this meeting.
