OTHER EQUITY OPERATIONS

Calista Corporation and its wholly owned subsidiaries have investments in other various corporations, limited liability companies and joint ventures from which Calista shares in the profits or losses according to their ownership percentage.

Brice Sukakpak, LLC

With the acquisition of Brice Incorporated, Calista acquired 50 percent ownership in Brice Sukakpak, LLC. The company was established in 2007 to purchase and lease property in Deadhorse, AK.

Delta Constructors

Calista in late 2019 acquired a 25 percent interest in Delta Constructors, a leading oil and gas construction firm operating in Alaska, Canada, and the Lower 48. Calista’s stake in Delta Constructors is owned by Bektuq Holding LLC, a holding company for Calista subsidiaries working in the energy, engineering and environmental sector.

Northstar Gas

NorthStar Gas LLC, formed in July of 1998, is a partnership between Calista Corporation, NANA and 16 Village Native Corporations that provides a variety of retail and wholesale fuel, propane and petroleum products to Bethel and villages throughout Western Alaska.

Nunalista, LLC

Nunalista is 51 percent owned by Calista and 49 percent owned by Knik Construction Co. Inc., a heavy equipment construction company specializing in remote-site projects in Alaska. Nunalista operates gravel pits and rock quarries in the Calista Region.

Nuvista Light and Electric Cooperative, Inc.

While not a true diversified holding of Calista Corporation, Nuvista Light & Electric Cooperative, Inc. is a cooperative membership comprised of eight organizations. The member organizations are Calista Corporation, the Association of Village Council Presidents, Yukon Kuskokwim Health Corporation, AVCP Housing Authority, Middle Kuskokwim Electric Company, Alaska Village Electric Cooperative, Lower Yukon and Chaninik Wind Group.

Nuvista is a non-profit corporation whose mission is to improve the energy economics within the Region by securing future management of electrical generation and transmission that will enable the Region to attain affordable, long-term energy sustainability and self-sufficiency. Nuvista is guided and governed by a 12-member Board of Directors made up of business professionals and community leaders. Three directors are elected by Calista Corporation and AVCP, with one director each from the remaining members. The location of Nuvista’s office rotates among each member for a seven-year period. Nuvista is currently located at Calista’s headquarters in Anchorage.
