Shareholder Information

Note: Information on the Regional Committee gathering to support Tribal sovereignty and rights, village corporations, and more is found by clicking here.

Calista Corporation is comprised of 12,600 Shareholders. As the second largest Alaska Native Corporation in both land mass and population, there is a good amount of work that has goes into making sure Shareholders and Descendants receive all of the benefits, for which they are entitled. In order to successfully deliver dividends, scholarships, jobs, and other Shareholder and Descendant advantages, it is important that you keep your information current with us.

Please note that the Board of Directors Code of Business Ethics policy and the Calista Corporation Bylaws are on the Board of Directors page.

Shareholder Rights

Calista Corporation encourages all of its Shareholders to be active and engaged at both the Regional and Village Corporation level. Each corporation is a separate, independent corporation. However, your rights as a Shareholder of a corporation in Alaska are the same whether you are a Shareholder of a Regional corporation or of a Village corporation. Click here for more Shareholder rights information. A quick look at the Alaska State laws and regulations that relate to Shareholder rights can be found by clicking here. Otherwise you can find the Alaska Statutes on the internet at the state website or at the Alaska Legal Resources Center website.

How to update your information

In order to make any changes to a Shareholder’s name, birth date, or social security number, the request for the change must be accompanied by documentation. For example if you have recently married and need to have your records updated to include your married name, make a copy of your marriage license/certificate and submit a copy to Calista Corporation.

Download the personal data form. The form needs to be completed and mailed to our office with the appropriate documentation. Requires the free Adobe Acrobat Reader.

Missing Addresses

Let us know if you move!

Many Calista Shareholders do not have a valid address registered with Shareholder Records. When this happens, we are unable to send important information to Shareholders, including newsletters, distribution checks, and data-gathering documents for stock transfers and proxy packets. Many of the items we send out include opportunities for both Shareholders and their Descendants, so it's important the information reaches you.

When Shareholder mail is returned to our office, we mark that Shareholder as having an unknown address. The Shareholder Records Department has no way of knowing if you change your address. Even if we are aware someone has moved we are not able to change a person's mailing address until we have received a signed document indicating the new address. Download the Shareholder Update Address Form.

About Wills

When a Shareholder passes away without having executed a will, the shares will be transferred to heirs in accordance with the laws of intestate succession under Alaska Statutes. This segment of the Alaska Statutes is very specific in determining the inheritors of stock. The end result may not exactly reflect what the Shareholder may have verbally stated to family members or friends. The method for making sure your ANCSA stock goes according to your wishing is to complete an ANCSA Stock Will Form. With this form you can designate exactly whom you want your stock transferred to when you pass away.

Calista has blank will forms available for the disposition of Calista Corporation and village corporation stock.

Download the Calista Corporation Will Form (v2011) or the Village Corporation Will Form (v2011).

Updating ANCSA Stock Wills

A Shareholder can update their ANCSA stock will at any time. For example, as time goes on, you may have additional children you want to add to your will, or you may want to delete someone from a previous will. When determining inheritance, the most recent valid will specific to the disposition of ANCSA stock will determine who inherits your shares.

If you have a personal will or a Native Allotment will and your ANCSA stock is mentioned, it is not necessary to complete the wills specifically designed for the disposition of your shares.

If you want to obtain a copy of your current will to evaluate if you need to make any changes, submit a written request to the Shareholder Records Department and we will send you a current copy. We will also send you a blank Will Form so you have it available to make changes if you choose to do so.

Calista is not responsible for the transfer of Native allotments owned by individuals in the Calista Region. Authority for Native allotments is designated to the tribal organization affiliated with the tribal enrollment of the allotted individuals.
